The Mets (1-0) defeated the Marlins (0-1) by the score of 7-1 today.

  • David Wright hit an opposite-field, two-run home run in his first at bat of the season.
  • Jason Bay, Rod Barajas and Gary Matthews Jr. each had two hits.
  • Johan Santana allowed one run and four hits in six innings.
  • Fernando Nieve pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
  • Francisco Rodriguez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the save.
  • Jeff Francoeur walked and Mike Jacobs struck out twice.
  • The Marlins made three errors.
  • The Mets are a major league-best 32-17 on opening day.

No Dan at 1B

Daniel Murphy will be out on Opening Day for 206 weeks due to a knee injury that he hurt in a rundwon between 3B and Home Plate. It looks like Mike Jacobs will replace him at 1B for Opening Day.

Today the Mets claimed Manny Acosta off waivers from the Braves according to Sny.tv

Pat Misch is reported by Sny.tv that he will not be on the opening day roster. He has been put on waviers meaning any team can get him before he is sent to Triple-A.
